Song: Look to the Savior
Music and Lyrics by Camille Kerr and Jennifer Oleksy, Sung by Asha Himmighoefer
This song was inspired by a message given by Bishop David Walburger, the Bishop of the Quantico Ward in the Woodbridge Stake of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
He said, “To obtain the purity and unity of Zion, we must become watchmen and watchwomen who are constantly watching and looking for the Savior in all that we do. While many of the children of Israel thought that looking at Moses’ rod wouldn’t make any difference in their physical health, we are promised in the scriptures and now directed by a living prophet to look for and see Him always – this will increase our spiritual health to the level needed to become Zion individuals. How do we personally look up, look down, look forward, look back, and look around in our lives? As we do this and strive to let His will prevail, we have the promise of His righteousness from heaven which will turn us away from our iniquities and grow our purity and unity into the stature of Zion.”
We have been inspired as we wrote this song. We have felt its message teach and comfort us in our lives. Any darkness that we face will be overpowered by the light of Jesus Christ, when we turn away from the dark and look to our Savior. He is in our midst, waiting there for us to look to Him and when we do, He blesses us with His light, His strength, His grace and His love.
