“What do you want to be when you grow up?”

That is something we are all asked or we all think about when we are young. And growing up, my answer to that was varied, from scientist to doctor, actress to author. However, my most common answer was teacher.

I wanted to be a teacher.

Today I would consider myself a teacher, even though I have never received formal training. And yet I am a teacher in every sense of the word. It is something I love about myself. I know if I were to speak to other women of the church, women who are mothers, sisters, friends, neighbors, daughters, and so on, if I had the opportunity to speak to all of them I know most, if not all, would consider themselves teachers also.

It does not just stop at teacher. Baker, cleaner, ministering sister, life coach, guidance counselor, a role model.

The sacred roles you hold as a woman of God has taught you valuable skills to teach, nurture, and lead.

It is because of the glorious, divine attributes you possess that you are able to not only meet different situations and circumstances with confidence but succeed in ways others are unable to understand.

Along with all the sacred roles I mentioned above, and the myriad of others I have not mentioned, come glorious, divine attributes both inherent and learned. Attributes such as loving, generous, empathetic, understanding, patient, knowledgeable, compassionate, and elect.

“Elect” is an attribute we tend to see in others, but never in ourselves. But with confidence, we can be sure that we are each elect. Elaine S. Dalton reminds you to “…See yourself as our Heavenly Father sees you. You are elect. You are of noble birth. Don’t compromise your divine inheritance. You were born to be a queen.”

That’s right, YOU are elect.

We are sisters engaged in Divine Work. Heavenly Father did not leave this to strangers, or to chance. He left this exact moment in time to us. To YOU. Our Heavenly Father knew you were the right person to be the mother, the wife, the sister, the neighbor, the friend. Because of the faith He has in you, you can believe that when speaking of the elect you are one of them.

You are a beloved daughter of God. A faithful follower of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. As you continue your daily acts of diligent service, continue to live a life as His disciple, you won’t need to remind yourself that you are elect, because it will reflect in your very countenance.

The teacher in me would like to leave you with a final lesson takeaway. The Dictionary defines Elect as ‘chosen by God for salvation’ and ‘favored’. “As the beloved daughters of Heavenly Father, and as the daughters of the Lord Jesus Christ in His kingdom, you will play a crucial part in the grand times ahead.” – Henry B. Eyring

As one whom our Father in Heaven places such great faith in, one who He has endowed with unique gifts central to helping bring about His perfect plan, it is clear how favored you are and He has provided a way for all mankind to receive salvation. He has chosen us all.

There is no need to ever worry or wonder if you are one of the elect. Because you are.
