Enoch Studies Feature
By LDW Team
When the Come Follow Me curriculum was announced a little over 2 years ago, I was excited to be able to streamline the lessons for every member of my family at every age. It would be so nice to be able to learn the same lessons in church and at home and talk about them with each other throughout the week.
Not long after the announcement, I noticed many blogs and businesses coming out with resources to supplement teaching, whether it was for primary, youth, or adults. As I started to look around, one stood out to me: Enoch Studies.
I have two teenagers and two primary aged kids. What I love about Enoch Studies is that their kits are made for every age. They are designed to work together so that when we gather for Family Home Evening or home-centered church, we can do all the different activities as a family.
My two youngest boys were most excited to do the weekly coloring page. They LOVE to color. As they sat around the table with their markers, we chatted about the night the Savior was born. As they colored the star, they asked questions about the wise men. We had a wonderful little lesson and they didn’t even realize it!
In every kit, there’s a beautifully designed quote that ties right in with the weekly Come Follow Me theme. You could use this as a wallpaper for your phone, or print it out for some unique home decor.
When I told my teens that I had printed out some Come Follow Me activities for them to do, they were a little skeptical. So was I.
When they came across this Samuel the Lamanite activity, their eyes lit up just a bit – though they would never admit it. We cut it out and made some weapons and went to town.
Do men every grow out of the desire to throw things? I don’t think so. On the other hand, my daughter was hesitant to hit Samuel, knowing that he was a prophet of God. This was a fun game that every member of my family enjoyed. As my kids were throwing (or not throwing) their weapons, I snuck in a few questions about the importance of following the prophet. It turned into a great discussion.
Another great activity for any age are these sheets with questions you can answer personally. You might stick it in your journal or scriptures and ponder on them again and again.
Every kit includes this informational sheet that shows you what is inside and instructions on how to use it. But remember that this is a supplement. The most important thing when teaching your family is to follow the Spirit. But I believe these resources will help invite the Spirit into your home.
Enoch Studies does a great job at creating activities for kids that help them understand principles, and strengthen their growing testimonies. Their resources help parents and teachers engage the young minds of their kids at any age. If you don’t have a lot of time, but you prioritize teaching Come Follow Me in your home, Enoch Studies is here to help.
